    Oral health insurance

The cost of dental and other oral care for people over the age of 18 ( see above ‘other fees’) is not covered by basic insurance. For those under 18, different rules apply.

There are also some dental treatments that do get reimbursed for everyone with insurance, regardless of age.

Oral care for all insured persons (regardless of age)

Some dental treatments are available to all insureds, regardless of your age. Basic insurance covers special dental care if there is a serious (developmental) disorder or abnormality of the mouth.

Oral care for insured persons up to age 18

Basic insurance covers a comprehensive package of treatments. For example: periodic checkups, tartar removal, fillings and surgical dental care. Consult your insurance policy for a complete list.
Periodic checkup (periodic preventive examination): once a year, unless the dentist or dental hygienist feels that more times a year is necessary
An occasional consultation (an appointment between periodic checkups)
    Tartar removal
    Fluoride treatment from the breaking of permanent teeth (large-man teeth and molars): up to twice a year, unless more times a year is required;
    Sealing of chewing surfaces
Treatment of the periodontium (tissue that attaches the tooth in the jaw)
    Anesthesia
    Root canal treatment
    Fillings
Treatment for complaints about the jaw joint
    Plates and frame prostheses
Crowns, bridges and implants: only for front teeth not attached or completely lost due to an accident
    Surgical dental care, except implants
X-ray examination, except for orthodontic care (bracket dentist).

Oral care for insured persons 18 and older

As mentioned above, the basic insurance for insured people over 18 years of age only covers the cost of some treatments. Treatments are covered by basic insurance up to two treatments per year. Starting from two treatments per year is covered by the supplementary insurance.

    Surgical dental care
    X-ray examination
    Removable dentures

The rest of the treatments, including a periodic checkup, are not reimbursed.

    Orthodontics and implantology

Orthodontics and implants are covered by the supplemental dental insurance.

    Supplemental dental insurance

Would you like to be reimbursed for more dental expenses? If so, you can purchase supplemental insurance from your health insurance company. Which treatments and how much you will be reimbursed varies by insurer.

We always recommend contacting your own health insurance company to find out whether or not your treatments will be reimbursed (in part).
